The Whooper Swan is a whopper in size, weighing up to 30 pounds! They are among the largest flying birds in the world. Often considered the most elegant of the swan species, Whoopers are purely white in plumage, with black feet and a pale orange beak. Every swan has a different beak pattern, much like an individualized fingerprint. Whoopers mate for life like many other swan species.
Breeding season is usually April-June. They will nest close to the water, and you can expect 4-5 eggs in a clutch. Diet consists of game bird pellet and hen scratch, along with aquatic vegetation, grass, greens, fish and insects.
Our Whooper Swans are not pinioned. Wing clippings are available at $2.50 per bird, and the trimming can last 4-6 months.
