Vulturine Guinea Fowl
These African beauties are a collector’s favorite. Their bright blue breasts and intricate black and white speckled feathers are truly remarkable. They are sociable birds, easily tamed, and do great in an aviary setting. The males can show aggression toward the smaller female, so it is important to house them in a large enough enclosure for the females to take shelter.
Vulturine Guinea Fowl are endemic to African grasslands, making them heat-tolerant birds. They are however, sensitive to cold temperatures, and will require shelter throughout winter conditions. Diet consists of game bird pellet, lots of greens, and a favorite treat, mealworms.
Our Guinea Fowl are not pinioned. Wing clippings are available at an additional $2.50 per bird, and the trimming can last 4-6 months.
